Hunan Kitchen & Vegetarian Restaurant - Squirrel Hill

This place used to be called the Zen Garden. It was an all vegetarian, Asian style restaurant. Then I guess business wasn't going so well so they added meat to the menu. I hadn't been there since that change until tonight. I have to say, I am very pleased with this place. I went with a group of people, half vegetarians, half not. I think everyone was really happy with their dishes, which is something hard to accomplish with that kind of crowd.

I had eggplant in garlic sauce with brown rice. Since I have a hard time cooking eggplant well, I always appreciate a well prepared eggplant dish. It was excellent and very purple! Nate had vegetarian General Tso's which looked very tasty. I forget what everyone else had, but everyone's food looked very good and my dad even complimented the waiter on his soup! You know it's a good place when your dad pays them compliments.

All in all, I was really happy with my experience here and it's a shame that I didn't go for like 2 years. It's a nice place to take your family or even to go with one person for a "romantic dinner."

Wait! So Hunan Kitchen is the same as Zen Garden! I went and ate at Zen Garden but I've ordered Hunan Kitchen for delivery many times and love the food. I never knew that they were the same place! You can order from Hunan Kitchen at www.campusfood.com ... anyways, I didn't know. I agree, their food is awesome!
