YO! Sushi – I’m not sure I can ‘convey’ the uniqueness of this restaurant

First I will show you a picture.

That is FOOD on a conveyer belt. It is being conveyed to you the eater of food. It is a very unique experience. As vegetarians however there was a bit of a challenge. It is hard to tell what we can or can not eat as the food scurries past us. We adapted to taking food off the conveyer belt opening it up and looking at it, then if we didn’t want it putting it back. That kind of felt wrong, but no one said anything to us about it.

There is more to the place then just the conveyer belt of food. You may wonder how they know how much to bill you for instance. It works like this, each dish comes on a color coded mini-plate. The color corresponds to a price. So when it comes time to settle your bill, all they do is count up your plates and multiply by the appropriate dollar values for each color of plate. Prices ranged from 2 GBP to 6 GBP, per item. A GBP (Great Britian Pound) is equivalent to about $1.90 in USD (United States Dollars).

There was also all you can eat miso soup for 2 GBP. There were taps for water, both fizzy and flat, for which you were charged 1.5 GBP.

Also, there is a menu which contains all items that may be on the conveyer belt in addition to a few sections of items that you can order specifically and have delivered to you by hand. You can call a waiter by pressing a red button, which then makes some sort of crazy noise, one time it was a dragon-like roar, another a whirring disco sound. They will come along and take your order if they hear it. That was a minor issue for us. We used the button but didn’t realize they had to actually be some what near by to hear the noise. So it may be slightly hard to get a waiter when it is busy.

The décor was very modern as you might expect. It was very interesting and I highly recommend trying it out. Another issue I had is that since food is coming in small morsels over a long period of time, I ate a lot more then I otherwise would have. I have the same issues at a tappas restaurant. So, keep that in mind.
