Namaste India - A Slow Heat

Namaste India is home to one of the nicest wait staff I have ever encountered. Three servers waited on us and all of them used a gentle smile each time they came to our table. Their kindness made it even harder to watch an ill-mannered customer treat them rudely. While we were there, we witnessed a terrible incident where a customer next to our table rejected his soup saying it was too spicy and when the waiter brought him a new one a minute later, instead of trying it, the jerk said, "That's nice of you, but I said 'I don't like the soup.'" I couldn't believe the guy couldn't have just thanked the waiter and chosen not to eat it if he didn't like it. There is no excuse for treating a good server badly.

Anyway, back to the quality of the restaurant. The decor of the place was a bit bland, but the food we ordered had an interesting spice that I couldn't place. It was spicier than the Indian food I have had at other restaurants but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle with a glass of cold water. I really liked the plain naan that we had; it was a perfect balance of puffy and crispy. I would go back just for the naan, but, I think we'll be going back for the Wednesday night vegetarian buffet our server invited us to after noticing that we hadn't ordered any meat. As I said, although he was busy, he was helpful. I think politeness makes the food taste better.

We love Namaste . . . especially the Tuesday night buffet, which has both meat and vegetarian options. The choices change weekly, so you never know what you are going to get. The Wednesday night buffet is good, but too spicy for my Wife, so we only went to it one time, but we are regulars for Tuesday night. Yes, the staff is always extremely pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended!!

My Wife was busy with work last night, so my Daughter and I went to the Namaste Buffet, anticipating that it would be vegetarian, since it was a Wednesday night (See previous post).

Well, my friends, they changed it! Not only was the buffet setup entirely new, they also now have both meat and veg. options on Wednesday. The spread last night was one of the best I've ever seen here, and the food was excellent as always, except I didn't enjoy the goat meat curry, because it had too many small pieces of rib bones that I had to pick out of my teeth, and the goat was fattier that usual, but the deep fried Pakoras were the best ever, and their was a curried pakora dish that was really good too. I liked the pongal over the rice, more like rice pudding without the sweetness, and had some good additions and spices mixed in here and there.

According to the sign on the window, the buffet is now Tues. and Wed. nights, so go enjoy.

The cost for the two of us with water to drink was $19.98, and was well worth the price.

P.S. The new placemats are interesting to look at too, they are photos of the dishes that are available off the regular menu.
