Angkor - Pittsburgh

Corinne and I ate at Angkor last night. It had been a while since we were there and I really enjoyed it. It was a Friday night, and not that many people were there and this surprised us because the food is so good!
The head waiter there is very nice and greeted us as usual - it's a very fancy place with decorative walls and wooden sculptures. The food is outstanding. We started our meal with crispy tofu squares followed up by the main course. I had the green curry noodles with tofu and Corinne had mixed vegetables with tofu in brown sauce. One thing about this place: there are beautiful orchids everywhere. We found out that the orchid on our table was actually fake, but it fooled us! I would go back here any time because the food was so good and the service was excellent.

Angkor is one of the best places in the city. The tragedy is that no one knows about it because of its location. The rumor from the owners is that they will try to move to a more visible location when their lease ends.

If they do move, I hope that they take their beautiful artwork with them, and have a place that is just as nicely decorated.

I also hope they don't move too far away, it is a fairly convienient location, and the good part is, there is never a wait for a table :-)

But most importantly, I hope the food doesn't change, it is awesome just the way it is!!

I wonder when the lease is up?

Maybe they should try better advertising, like the Entertainment book or something???

Had dinner at Angkor yesterday (Sunday, May 20th 2007) and it was probably the busiest I've ever seen it. There were at least six tables of two, two tables of five, and two large parties of 8 and 11.

I wonder if this means that business is improving enough that they won't need to move to a new location, as one person commented, after their lease expires.

I had the red curry noodles with tofu, and it was excellent. I usually get the green, but I went for the red, and it was very good!

This place is still one of my favorites, and at the top of the list for Asian cuisine, the best Thai food around.
