While visiting Buffalo to see Green Day this weekend, Nate and I visited Pizza Plant. Nate had read online that it had a good beer selection and also good vegetarian options. We had a little bit of trouble finding it at first because it was in this little plaza with stores like Fashion Bug and Payless. I usually don't expect to see a restaurant with "good beer" in that kind of mix. Nevertheless, that's where it was.
Like Nate said, it was basically a pizza and sandwich place. The first thing I noticed were the cool menus - they looked kind of like a flyer or an advertisement that someone would hand you on the street. The beer selection was good, but not huge. They had 8 or 9 microbrews from around the northeast part of the country mostly, and then 8 or 9 lower quality beers in bottles. I had a Magic Hat #9... which I still think is one of the most unique beers I've had. Nate had a Smuttynose wheat beer. We tried to get things that you can't really find around here.
For our meals, I had a hummus wrap, which ended up being really good. The wrap itself looked like it was some sort of whole wheat, which I love. It was big and tasty and came with potato chips and a pickle. I hate pickles. Nate had a "pod," their signature dish, which is kind of like a hand-held stromboli.
This seemed like a nice place to take kids (there were a lot of families around) but at the same time, a good place to have a few good beers. My one complaint was that we were helped by at least 4 different people... one person to seat us, one to take our drinks, one to take our food orders, and one to give us our check.
So if you are ever in Buffalo, I recommend this place if you like made to order pizza type things... and really, what else is there to do in Buffalo, anyways?

I found this place thanks to www.beeradvocate.com. It is a pizza and sandwich sort of place. They have a special food call a “Pod”. Which is basically a pizza sort of rolled up. Not quite a stromboli, but it is a sandwich. It comes with a marinara dipping sauce which was tasty. You can order a Pod to your exact specifications, length (10 inch or 16 inch), dough type (Italian, wheat, etc), sauce (pizza sauce or marinara), and extras (which is a huge assortment of possible items. I had mushrooms, tomatoes, broccoli, and … possible some other plant option.)
They also have their own beer selections; I did not have the chance to sample any of them as they had both Magic Hat #9 and a wheat beer made by Smuttynose brewery that I had not had a chance to try before.
They had a big mural on the wall, entitled "Pods of the Mist", which was a schene of the Maid of the Mist riding out to Niagra Falls, but all the people had Pod sandwiches for heads. I thought it was funny.
