Small and unimpressive from the outside, the building on 1473 Banksville Road veils one of the top pizza places in all of Pittsburgh. Getting to Beto's is the most challenging aspect of the place. Banksville Road - situated just outside of Greentree - is a several lane road split by a concrete barrier at several points. If coming from downtown, you cannot turn left into Beto's because of the barrier. You will have to drive past Beto's make a U-turn to get on Banksville coming in the opposite direction. The parking lot is small. There are two sections to Beto's. One door is for pick-up of call-in orders and another is for the dining area. The dining area is also small so don't expect to find a seat at prime times on Friday or Saturday night. It's best to go later.
The menu features the typical items you'd expect at a pizza shop. Pizza, sandwiches, and great appetizers. The pizza is the crown jewel on the menu. And it is not like any other pizza you've had. The pizza is served as square cuts, each costing 99 cents without toppings. It is cooked such that the cheese is partially melted and the crust cooked. When pulled from the oven, the generous staff sprinkles additional cold cheese on top followed by other toppings you may have ordered. Don't bother asking for extra cheese. Though it is excellent - and people ask for bags to purchase to take home - you won't need extra. Beto's is not skimpy with the toppings. The pizza is an excellent mix of hot bread and cold toppings. Throw in an order of their fried mozzarella sticks for the complete experience.
The food is cheap and you can expect to spend about $10 for two people.
You'll never go back to Pizza Hut again! Highly recommended!
Pros: Quality of Food, Generous Pizza Toppings, Inexpensive
Cons: Small Parking Lot, Small Dining Area, No Delivery
