Mike and I were encouraged to try out Buca di Beppo because they serve large portions that are intended to be shared. Although we arrived around 4pm on a Sunday, we had to wait for about 8 minutes to be seated (imagine a Friday or Saturday night!). The food was great. Mike and I shared the small Spaghetti Aglio Olio (one of the least expensive choices), a small order of garlic bread, and we each had Pepsi. Garlic will be stinking from our pores for days but it was better than any garlic bread I have ever had. As the other reviewers have suggested, the portions were huge. Our bill came to $21.00.
While we were there, we heard 4 Frank Sinartra songs and saw an exorbitant number of exposed ta tas in the decorations. One poster-sized picture hanging directly above Mike's head was of a topless woman holding two watermelons in front of her nakedness. Somewhat distracting. There was also a picture of two 5/6 year-old boys smoking and another of butt cheeks covered minimally by panty-sized Levi's.
Another point to note is that there is no free parking in the area and we paid $4.00 to park for an hour. I doubt we will return despite the outstanding garlic bread.

I have been here I think twice now. The first time was with Nate and we got so much food that we brought home the equivalent of like 2 extra meals. We went there just yesterday with his mother and grandma. It is definitely better to go with more than 2 people, however it is difficult to get everyone to agree on what you are going to get. And you do have to agree since the portions are huge and served "family style." Or, everyone could get their own thing and you could look like fat hogs, and who wants that? We had the eggplant parmesan and spaghetti aglio olio. It was good, so I would recommend this as a place to go when you have lots of people together that you won't fight with about over food selections.

I ate at this restaurant in Washington, D.C. I didn't realize it was a chain at the time, but it feels like a chain. Kind of like Applebees where they have a ton of crap on the walls trying to make it look like they've been around forever and actually collected this stuff to be quirky. Meanwhile they probably bought it all wholesale. I thought the food was kind of gross. Jeff and I shared a giant plate of pasta since you order family style. Our waiter annoyed me to no end. The only thing I enjoyed was their stand up dessert menu that was decorated with tassles.

Food orders are for the whole table, which makes it difficult for vegetarians and non-vegs to eat here together. Excellent food though, portions are approximately 50% to 100% more then they are listed as.
