The Church Brew Works - On a Downward Spiral?

I've been to the Church Brew Works many times. It seems the past few times I have been there, the quality of service has gone way down. For example, tonight I went there for dinner and when the girl brought us out our beer, she asked who got the Pious Monk Dunkel. No one had, but I had ordered the Double IPA, which I stated. She seemed confused for a moment and finally said, "Ok, this is the IPA." I feel like no matter what I had said I had ordered, she would have just said that was it. You ordered a Pepsi? Well Ok, here it is. I deducted that it was indeed the IPA, but this isn't the first time they have screwed up drink orders there.

My other complaint is that the food is just WAY too overpriced. They had a special menu for their 9th anniversary, and the only vegetarian item on the menu was vegetable eggrolls for $7.95. I thought that sounded like a good appetizer, so we ordered 1 to split. Much to my dismay, it ended up being only ONE eggroll. Don't get me wrong - it was good - but not eight dollars good. Their entrees in general average in at about $15 a plate, and quite frankly, they are pretty mediocre. The pizza is good, but I can get pizza anywhere. When I go to a church that sells beer, I want something special.

I'd say that I'm not super excited to go back to the Church Brew Works anymore if things keep going the way they are (unless they add soft pretzels as a permanent addition to their menu). Everyone should definitely go at least once for the experience. You don't even have to go there anymore to get the beer, though, because they are selling it in cases now at local beer distributors.

Church Brew Works is OK with me

I've been to CBW a few times, and I've never had a bad experience there. The food is very good, but the selection is small. The spinach and artichoke dip is a tasty appetizer but it never comes with enough pita bread to use up all the dip. They do provide some neat crackers that are shaped like pretzel sticks to go with the dip. The beer selection is pretty cool, but I'm not big on specialty beer because it doesn't taste as good as Yuengling or Miller Lite. I suppose I'm going to be yelled at for saying that. It is also just really fun to go because the atmosphere is interesting, I mean how often do you get to drink alcohol in a church!!! Beer altar rocks!

Church Brew Works - I make offerings of cash to the beer god here

I go here for beer first, which is excellent. The one or two vegetarian options are good but get old quickly. Especially if your significant other has a drinking problem and you don't really like beer.

Church Brew Works - Lawrenceville

I don't remember what I ate here or even if I enjoyed it...but I did think the concept of a restaurant inside an old church was cool. I knew that it was a former church, but I didn't expect it to be so churchy. I like the beer altar.

Church Brew Works - Lawrenceville

Tasty beer, meager vegetarian selections. Ask for the bar menu. The pizza is good and not as expensive as everything else on the menu. Get the beer sampler.
