About two months ago, Emiliano's Mexican Restaurant took the building that used to occupy Don Pablo's in McIntyre Square on McKnight Road. We went to check it out this week and had a really nice experience. The waiter was kind and the menu featured several choices for vegetarians. We were given free warm chips and two salsas when we first arrived. One was a typical tomato salsa and the other was a spiced sour cream type dip. Both were pretty good and we were given refills without asking.
When the entrees arrived I was impressed by the portions. The burrito I ordered covered half of the plate and Spanish rice and toppings like lettuce, sour cream, and salsa on the side covered the other half. It was good but I didn't think it was better than the food I've had at El Campesino down the street. The main concern I have for this restaurant is that there are so many Mexican restaurants in the area that it may be difficult to shave some of the business from the already successfully established restaurants that we Pittsburghers have come to love and patronize. As I've said, it's good. It's just that there are a lot of great Mexican restaurants around.
